Robert Minhinnick is a prolific and treasured Welsh poet, novelist, essayist and critic. An established environmentalist, he is joint founder of Friends of the Earth Cymru, and the charity Sustainable Wales. He is multi-award winning to include the Forward Prize for Best Individual Poem, the Eric Gregory Award, Hay Festival Poetry Award (2022) and his essays have twice won Wales Book of the Year. He's published by Carcanet and Seren, and widely anthologised.

Uplands Poetry Night is an exciting new monthly collaboration between Swansea University Creative Writing and Poetry Into Light, with readings, discussion and networking, held in the warmth and intimacy of the upstairs rooms of Bar St James. The event launched in December 2025 with poet and award-winning spoken word artist Rhian Edwards.
The event features performances and Q&A with established poets alongside up-and-coming voices from across Swansea University, offering a vibrant and supportive space for sharing, listening and socialising.
